Living in New York City is the ultimate dream for many people. New York City is divided up into 5 sections called boroughs, however, most people refer to the Borough of Manhattan when they refer to the “City”. Although the rest of the 4 boroughs has a mixture of apartment buildings and private houses, Manhattan is comprised mostly of apartments. There are various types of apartments in NYC and the prices depend on the location and type of apartments.
Condos are the most common type of apartment. You basically own the condo outright but also do not have to worry about the maintenance of the building. Most condos are between 1 to 3 bedrooms, although you can find bigger ones.
Co-Ops are apartments that are owned by the entire community. You must get approved by a Co-Op board but generally the prices on Co-Ops are cheaper than condos.
Lofts are also a type of apartment. They are former warehouses converted for dwelling. They have high ceilings, big windows and generally a much bigger living space.
